Hello

“Rescues helping rescues is what it is all about to make sure the animals are taken care of”

- that is a statement Jewell lives by.

My Story

Jewell Horton is no stranger to equine rescue, or animal welfare for that matter. After spending almost two decades working in local veterinary practices in large and small animal medicine, in 2013 she took over the local county animal shelter. She also founded her own Non-Profit to help fill gaps for emergency and disaster response needed in regards to animals (especially equines) during major weather and emergency events.

Jewell is also on the Board of Directors of three equine rescues as an equine/ programs consultant, including for CFER. Her non profit, Hortons Rehab Ranch has partnered with CFER during our rebuild to help us continue to care for equines in need. She resides in Pender County with her son Archer and a multitude of animals!
